-Dad, where is The Amazonas?
-Ask your mother, she always puts everything in the drawers!
Well, this is my comic strip. The first time I saw this joke, it made me laugh, but now I've discovered it's a little sexist (in my opinion). We can see the man is ignorant because he doesn't know that The Amazonas is the largest river in the world and we can also see that is the girl's mother who “puts everything in the drawers” in other words, the mother tidies the house and she has to know where everything is, she does all of the housework.
Very good Marina! I absolutly agree with you! It´s a sexist or even a male chauvinist joke. Stereotipes appear: an useless man and an organized woman. And women as the only housekeepers.
ResponderEliminarI think that the post is fine but write another one if you feel better.
Thank you! but I think I will do another one... ;)
ResponderEliminarOK OK superpupil! :)
ResponderEliminarOk, Marina, but for your new comic strip, maybe you could combine two of your hidden passions, mathematics and physics. See http://niemann.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/10/25/unpopular-science/ or http://matematicaeducativa.blogspot.com/2007/07/cmic-de-matemticas.html
